FAQ
What a serious procurement team asks.
Is Calvrix a consultancy, an agency, or a vendor?
A platform-engineering practice. We own architecture and operations on long-running enterprise platforms. We are not a staffing house, a cloud reseller, or a discovery-call funnel.
What stack do you operate?
Two practices: the Microsoft enterprise stack (.NET, Entity Framework Core, Azure-native infrastructure) and cloud-native operations (Kubernetes on AKS + EKS, Terraform, CI/CD, observability).
Can you run live migrations without downtime?
Yes: that is core discipline. Our anchor engagement is mid-migration from .NET 4.8 to .NET 10, on Azure-native infrastructure, while the business keeps trading.
How do engagements start?
A direct technical conversation. No discovery call, no sales-qualified-lead funnel. You send the system context; we respond directly with whether the problem fits our level of work.
How is documentation handled?
Every significant architecture decision lands in an ADR. Every operational standard lands in a runbook. Decisions must survive the people who made them.
How is pricing structured?
Senior retainer plus outcome-based components, scoped to the engagement. We do not bill on cloud-spend margin and we do not bill junior hours at senior rates.
Do you sign DPAs and NDAs?
Yes. Where an engagement requires Calvrix to process personal data, a data processing agreement is signed before that work starts. NDA and data-residency clauses are familiar territory.
Can we talk to a reference?
Yes. A reference call is arranged on request, after an initial technical conversation. You will hear what we got wrong as well as what we got right.
Are you UK-based?
Yes. Calvrix Ltd is registered in Scotland and continues the practice founded as Dove Solutions in 2019. We work with international customers.
Are you hiring?
Yes. Two senior-only roles in 2026: see Careers. No take-home test; we read the work you have already shipped.
Do you publish writing?
Yes: engineering essays, ADR excerpts, and post-mortems. See the Writing section.
Will you contradict the brand for an exception?
No. The discipline is the whole point. The same standard applies to our own artefacts as to the platforms we operate.
